craziness

these past few weeks have absolutely flown by! it's like i've been consumed by all the madness! there's so much to do, i'm already liking second semester a lot more than last.. i'm so glad to be doing other things than just classes and work (and MB for now). not that classes aren't going well, it's just a toss up. i really don't like time arts or foundation drawing, blegh it's so tedious and just kinda boring. but it's only been a couple of weeks so i can see it getting a lot better. anyways, everything is so hunky dory it's unreal. stayed completely alkey-free this weekend and still had so much fun. even though there are a lot of weird townie crackhead people in syracuse, as well as the million japs all cloned from the same evil DNA, there really is a layer that a lot of people are missing. people complain, oh syracuse, i hate it, there are so many of the same horrible people blah blah blah.. you really just have to sift through all the shit, and you'll find all these great intellectual, cultured, artsy, crazy, fun, amazing people! and i can't imagine it being any different from sifting through all the other shit in any other place, only that sifting through the shit is much easier at home since it's familiar. but seriously! this is home now, so people stop complaining cuz i'm sick of it! go out and do stuff and stop complaining that there's nothing to do. like last weekend, when chris, christa, and i went to the playwright's workshop on a whim, and left completely blown away, floored, by this one play, "blood nightmares and lovely sara," which is kinda weird in itself since the character's name is sara-no-h, but it turns out it takes place in northern virginia, and basically the whole play embodied everything that is northern virginia. the wretchedness, the self-centeredness, the shallowness, and all the "ness" that i've hated ever since i was little. it was perfect. i just wish people back home could have seen it.. we talked to the author afterwards and it turns out he lived in mclean and went to churchill elementary and i went to franklin sherman. we went to elementary school just a couple miles away from each other at the same point in time years ago.. crazy how the world really is so small and how you keep finding out things and discovering new things you never thought you would. it truly is continually surprising. i love it.
anyways, this week has been pretty crazy i must say. i'm finally starting to enjoy work. it's not so bad. in fact it's really quite entertaining how upset some people will get about a cup of coffee. how those bitchy girls will get their panties into such a twist! funny. direct quote, "you all are SO STUPID!" (regarding everyone that works at starbucks) uh, ouch? sike! wow, some people. honestly. which brings me to my next point of discussion, "hotel rwanda." everyone must go see it. it's for your own good. it will really open your eyes. an amazing movie. don cheadle is an amazing actor. and if you're in syracuse i highly recommend going to see it at westcott. christa and i had a crazy friday afternoon at shoppingtown mall then at westcott. browsing in boom babies, yummy food at alto cinco, weird zen spiritualness at that bookstore, yummy cheesecake from the crazy italian foodplace/grocery/BEERSTORE, then westcott cinema. that old building is amazing. makes you wonder what it was like in it's heyday. you see it from the outside and you're like ehh, then you go inside and it's HUGE, rundown, but amazing. unisex bathroom that is reminiscient of my grandma's primitive toilet in her pasacao little hut thing.. it was crazy. i totally wasn't expecting it to fill up. but there were a ton of people there to see the movie, which i am really glad about. the more people to see that movie, the better. yay, syracusians!
yesterday too ..amazing. went ice climbing w/ christa and the outing club. it was so fun, those kids are crazy! went cross country skiing w/ them on south campus on wednesday.. but that's another story. salmon river falls. beautiful. frozen waterfalls so tall! pretty aquamarine colors and pristine white! tall tall rocks! horizontally growing trees and pink sunset! rappelled over the lip of some crazy tree into the melt-y snow slush and then the frozen river and falls. it was amazing. i really need to get a new word, but that's what it was! got hit by a huge falling ice chunk dislodged by this girl's rope, but it didn't dampen my good time. now i'm sure i have a bruise on the back of my head/shoulder, but it's just a battlewound!
anyways, what a fun weekend. i don't want it to end.
